We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager to join our team for a new semiconductor fabrication facility startup in Hiroshima, Japan. The Project Manager will work cross-functionally with stakeholders with a strong emphasis on safety initiatives, risk management, performance tracking, and continuous improvement through AI and automation. The ideal candidate combines a proven background in semiconductor project management with a passion for innovation and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of the startup, ensuring all deliverables align with organizational objectives and are completed on time and within budget.
- Partner with diverse stakeholders from Construction, Facility, Supply Chain, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, HR, IT, Automation, IE, and Government Engagement to define, track, and deliver project milestones and segment-level outcomes.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and detailed reports to monitor project performance metrics, progress, and risk status, providing actionable insights to program leadership and stakeholders.
- Drive proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks, establishing robust risk registers and contingency plans.
- Champion AI and automation-driven improvements in project processes, reporting, and execution efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Scheduler to ensure schedule alignment, monitor dependencies, and take corrective action on deviations.
- Work with the EHS team to promote and implement safety enhancements, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory safety standards.
- Oversee and document project changes, ensuring thorough evaluation, communication, and implementation.
- Continuously assess and improve project management processes, tools, and methodologies for scalability and effectiveness.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely reports on project status, trends, risks, and forecasts to leadership and stakeholders.
- Adapt to evolving project requirements and support project needs across multiple sites, as necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, with demonstrated expertise in large-scale project management and risk mitigation for fab construction startups.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Proven track record in performance tracking, dashboard/report development, and risk management.
- Strong familiarity with AI-driven solutions, process automation, and project management tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, Power BI).
- Fluent in English (both written and verbal); proficiency in Japanese is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse functions and cultures.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel as needed to support both local and multi-site project requirements.

- Deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, startup project lifecycle, and industry best practices.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on proactive and creative risk mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality outcomes in an evolving environment.
- Familiarity with Japanese construction safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Work Location & Travel
This position is based in Hiroshima, Japan, with on-site presence required. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with construction, scheduling, and leadership teams and must be prepared to travel to support project needs at multiple locations.
